The Island Community Chorus, under the direction of Peter Boak, will again open the
Tabernacle season on July 5.
Accompanied by Garrett Brown, the chorus will perform folk hymns, intricate choral
arrangements, and songs familiar to the audience. This year, the program will
include a selection "River Jordan," from the American musical "The Civil
War." Also included will be "How Can I Keep from Singing," a
beautiful Jewish song entitled "Erev Shel Shoshanim," and "And The Father
Will Dance." The Chorus will reprise its outstanding arrangement of
Pietro Mascagni's "Easter Hymn," which was performed earlier this year at the
Old Whaling Church. It features a double chorus and intricate instrumentation.
The Chorus includes up to 125 singers. |
